The term meme was introduced by Richard Dawkins, a biologist in his work The Selfish Gene as a “cultural gene”. As the Internet evolved, the notion of Internet meme was suggested in 1993. Meme transmitted from person to person within a culture and often carries cultural information and symbolic meaning that represent a phenomenon. There are now many brands and marketers use meme as it can increase the social engagement significantly since it is ideal for the digital age and grabs attention.
